On Thursday, Paul and Mortensen both returned to court to come to an agreement on protective orders requested against one another and visitation rights for their child.
At the two-hour hearing, Commissioner Russell Minas recommended protective orders of at least three years for the former couple, because there's been "violence both ways." If either of them violate the orders, they could face criminal charges.
Minas further instructed the exes to work toward mediation.
"You guys have to figure out a lot here," he said. "You have to figure out how to function as co-parents."
He described their relationship as "very toxic."
They're scheduled to return to court June 1.
